Today I left you for a camping week stay
I would miss you so much if just for a day,
But how will I ever get through the week
My tears are threatening to run down my cheek!
I know some may say
That it is only a week
But the thought of that time
Makes my knees go weak!

I know all the things that I've been teaching you
Need to have practical lessons...that's true.
I know this in my head but not in my heart-
All it knows is that we're apart!

Celebrating your independence
As good as it sounds
Isn't much fun when you're not around!
My heart is in mourning, I left it with you
And I'm doing the things that all mommies do...

Trying to picture you happy and gay
Doing new things as you work and you play--
But oh it is awful the pain that I feel
And because it's heart pain doesn't make it less real!!
